PTA - THE FRIENDS OF CORFE HILLS
Next PTA Meeting:
Everyone is most welcome to attend!
If you wish to contact the committee or have agenda items you wish to raise please click here to email.
We are the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) at Corfe Hills School. We are a registered charity raising funds for the School. Every Parent/Carer of a child who attends Corfe Hills School is a member of the PTA. We are also open to any person who would like to come and support the school – Grandparent, Aunt, Uncle, neighbour, local resident - all would be warmly welcomed at any of our meetings.
Our aim is to raise money to fund additional learning opportunities and experiences for students. We raise funds in various ways but are always open to any suggestions. We then allocate the funding appropriately that is best for those at the School.
There is usually a meeting every half term lasting an hour or two depending on what we are planning. Tea/coffee and biscuits are provided. We have a Chair, Secretary and Treasurer who run the meeting. There is no commitment to come to all meetings or to stay for the whole meeting. We chat about past and future events, money, and spending in a relaxed, informal meeting at the school.
The School Associations (CHSA) Annual Appeal
Please see below for the printable version of the 2019 CHSA/PTA Annual Appeal form.
What we do
Our aims are:
- To provide the opportunity for discussions between parents/carers, teaching staff, governors, students and the local community
- To raise money for projects that would otherwise not be funded from the school budget
- To support the teaching staff
To raise money we like to put on events/support school events. We have a quiz night twice a year, provide refreshments at school performances and are hoping to bring back the Corfe Hills car boot sales.
We also have a very active Second Hand Uniform. We have collections at the school several times a year for the donations of outgrown uniform or those that are no longer needed. This uniform is then sorted and organised into a few sales during the year. This not only brings us money but is also very helpful to many Corfe Hills parents.
How has the PTA supported students in the past?
We financially support a range of events, programmes and activities. Recently this has been to buy books for the library; support financially the annual musical production, as well as sell refreshments and hold a raffle during the interval; enhance the Dance Live (formally Rock Challenge) performance; and funded the covered area and benches in the quad allowing for more seating and covered area for the students to sit and eat or chat outside. We have requests for further outside seating plus artwork to make the outside space more appealing.
In the past we have also financed the purchase of a school mini bus, a grand piano, drum kit and extended weight lifting facilities in the gym. We have also supported the funding of DT equipment, specialist games for the assisted learning team and cameras for media.
Our aim is to help all students at the school whether it is more specialist like music, sport, performance/dance related to equipment for all like benches, mini bus etc. Our desire is to keep supporting the students and the School where we can.
How can I help?
Come and join us at one of our meetings. They are informal discussions made up of people from different backgrounds, with children in different years, doing different things for the PTA. You do not have to sign up and commit to every meeting and event - you can do as much or as little as you can manage. Listen at meetings, volunteer to help at an event, email us ideas or support us financially. We are always grateful for more people as we are all volunteers and can’t stay on the PTA forever (well technically you can as we are open to anyone 😊).
Obviously this could be time but we also need money!
The Giving Machine (TheGivingMachine.co.uk). This is a great way to give to the PTA for free! Simply sign up on the website to donate to our charity through their Shop&Give platform. Every time you shop online head to their site first and go to your usual shopping site to donate us money. It is that simple and costs you nothing – win win!
We also run an annual collection. This usually happens every year where we ask you to support us if you can. A letter will go out and will also be found on this page. We are asking for donations that can be done via the ParentPay platform. There will be an option to donate to the Annual Collection and you can choose the amount you want to donate. This is not compulsory and please only give what you can. Any donations are gratefully received and will help us fund more items for the children in the future.
We would like to thank you for reading our page. If you have anything you want to ask, to volunteer, to say Hi etc then please email us at email@example.com. We look forward to hearing/seeing you soon.
