Our Approach to Homework

At Corfe Hills School, we see homework as an important part of developing independent, confident and successful learners. Homework is designed to complement classroom learning by giving students opportunities to retrieve knowledge, practise important skills, apply their learning and prepare for what comes next.

We aim for homework to be purposeful rather than simply frequent. Tasks are carefully selected to support the curriculum and may include retrieval practice, reading, extended practice, preparation, research or independent application.

As students progress through the school, we increasingly encourage them to take ownership of their learning by developing effective habits such as planning, organising their time, meeting deadlines and identifying areas they need to practise.

Our approach is underpinned by our belief that homework should have a clear purpose:

Learn it. Practise it. Remember it. Apply it.

Ultimately, homework is not about adding to students' workload; it is about strengthening learning in the classroom and developing the independence they need for future study and life beyond Corfe Hills School.

Students can access all aspects of homework through Google Classroom.
